The history of Shangri La Yerevan: from the foundation till now

Today, Shangri La is known as the best casino in Yerevan operating in a luxurious 5-star complex. But first, the unit was located elsewhere, and Storm International invested $ 3 million in the original establishment.

In September 2007, Storm International's second largest gambling holding in Russia, invested in the reconstruction of the largest casino in Armenia at that time, Cleopatra. The place was renamed to Shangri La. This was officially announced at the presentation of the casino directly by the president of Storm International, Michael Boettcher.

Prior to this, Storm International acquired Cleopatra casino, which is owned by the Armenian concern Multi Group. Within a few months, the old casino was reconstructed into a new one — Shangri La. Initial investment in this unit was $ 3 million. But the company expected to invest about 7 million by the end of 2007.

The total area of the casino was 2400 square meters, and it was planned to add another 800 square meters. The casino included 12 gambling tables and 85 slot machines.

In 2007, Multi Group and Storm International owned the Shangri La brand together, each having 50% of the stock.

At that time, Armenia was the first company's move from Russia to the CIS countries, where Storm International, Darren Keane, CEO of the company said, it still operates. But this was not the first project of Storm International outside Russia: the company owned gambling houses in Venezuela and Tunisia. Storm International gradually entered the markets of other CIS countries: Georgia, Belarus, and Latvia.

In 2015, Shangri La Yerevan experienced a second opening. Today, it is located near Yerevan, which is a respectable gambling establishment, the service and security of which correspond to world standards.

The casino actively uses the system of club cards that provide the right for additional services and privileges. Here, visitors can enjoy classic gambling tables, numerous modern games and slot machines, three bars, and the magnificent restaurant Lounge Michelangelo offering to enjoy Italian and Armenian cuisine. In addition, the casino hosts numerous music and entertainment events.

Particular attention is drawn to the luxurious interior of the institution, designed in the art deco style. It should be noted that unique expensive types of wood were used for decoration. To create this luxurious interior, Armenian national mosaic, exclusive carpets, original forging and stained glass windows in Tiffany style were used.
